Anyone else have a significant rise in overnight fuel prices? Ten percent overnight rise in Southern New Mexico.

Currently I am buying $40 USD of unleaded fuel daily, seven days a week. I am watching fuel prices daily , and fueling up daily.

Overnight fuel prices in Southern New Mexico rose ten percent plus. Not ten cents per gallon, ten percent plus per gallon. All stations to include Murphy USA, Maverick, and Speedway.

I can't recall such a high overnight percentage rise in fuel with a significant event or upcoming holiday.

Trying to understand if this is a local price increase, regional price increase, or nationwide.

The past 3-4 months I have seen many disconnected rises in fuel prices that seem to line up with weekends. The prices then settle back down a few weeks later. When i say disconnected, I mean disconnected with crude prices rises/falls and sometimes current events. The oil cartel's all have convenient excuses, the latest one may be "Israel will attack Iran". We are at their mercy until one of us builds our own Gastown from Furiosa. Such a good movie :) Lately I stockpiled about 200 gallons of diesel for my tractors because prices have been an all time low. I wouldnt recommend that with gas.

Prices are dropping here. Saw $2.65 at a couple stations and $2.79 at others.

Looks like the prices vary quite a bit today with the lowest at WalMart and the AF base per the current data on Gasbuddy.com.

I was lazy and didn't buy fuel on the way home last night. I passed the local shell on the way to Murphy USA to fill up this morning.

The local shell is usually the highest price in town. This morning it was .25 lower than everybody. I suspect the shell manager was in bed when the prices rise, and he/she will raise the price this morning.

Is gas buddy real time accurate across the board, or only displays when gas buddy members chose to imput the displayed price?

Hold my beer... Even though I don't drink. When 87* rag sneaks below $4 I celebrate. About $4.50 and up now...

With its density and access to ocean terminals, California could have one of the nations lowest fuel prices.

California fuel prices are what they are because of restraint of trade. Just that simple. No issue from me on it, the California voters chose this. I do feel bad for California citizens that don't have a voice in the matter though.

Gasbuddy is not real time accurate across the board. For the most part, it is dependent on member input. Some stations have datalinks and provide prices on a scheduled basis, but it isn't necessarily exactly when the price rises.

My experience in the KC area is that Walmart/Murphy will try to keep their prices down for one day or so longer than the initial price rise.

We got a big drop in gas price by me; from ~$3.70/regular down to $2.99 for the past couple days surprisingly.
U.S. too way up in NH. $2.79 and $2.74/ga. at two nearby stations. Got a bad load at a BP the other day though when I was out of town. Phase separated low octane or water IDK. too much effort to validate. hopw it runs through without destroying the high rail D.I. system.!

Gas buddy depends on users inputting data when they see it. All depends on how active members are in a particular area as to how fast it gets updated.

In my area, quick price raises will generally be noticed and reflected in the data in a few hours, but it takes nearly 24 hours for most everything to be updated. In rural MN, it may take 3+ days, if it gets updated at all...

YMMV...

My buddy in Denver said they went up over 10% last night, up 35 cpg. It hadn't gone up yet where I live though.

If my memory serves correctly, that area has only one pipeline from El Paso to Tucson. That can cause issues and gas price volatility. I don't know if the Gallup refinery provides much fuel to this area.

Wholesale gasoline prices on the CME only went up about $0.03 yestday and have gone down about $0.04 today. There appears to be no correlation between wholesale prices and your 10% jump.

Majors have a person that sits at a desk all day to calculate the price for the stations. Was there snowfall in the mountains, price goes up if your near a ski resort. Is it a holiday, or other special day that might increase demand? Price goes up.
And yes, the refinery closure as well as wars all have an impact.
