Some of this is the automakers ramming features down our throats, knowing fully that their dealers will make money on repair later on.... technology for technology's sake ("because they can") and not because it's really needed.

Although the one plus about the recession/depression going on is that the progression of this unecessary, overly complex and expensive to buy and repair "[censored]" isn't being as readily accepted anymore because bottom line most folks simply can't afford it. I say GREAT!
I hope the irrational, and unreasoned excess of auto technology will be put on indefinite hold, at least for as long as I'm alive.
Cars are being so dumbed down and over automated that the joy of driving at any price is becoming more and more rare.
I DON'T want this stuff. Period.
If I could buy a brand new MKI Golf GTI at 14k....I'd GLADLY take it over the modern alternatives. The MKI GTI is affordable, a blast to drive, easy and very inexpensive to repair, and still practical as a modern car!
