Any thoughts on a showroom, car museum, etc that would accept two later model German cars for "showing" for three years?

I have two later model German cars that I am looking for a place to store for three years until I retire. I have been looking for garages to rent in the Columbia, SC area and have not been successful.

Thought maybe a specialty car dealer showroom, or even a car museum would take these if their it could supplement their showroom.

One car is a 2008 BMW 335i, 33k miles, immaculate condition inside and out.

Other car is a 2012 S550 with the designo interior and is a rarer car with its tobacco designo interior

I am looking at a hanger tomorrow to rent, but is 50 miles from me and $500 a month (ouch).

Any thoughts?

Have you tried any local small dealerships? When I worked for an independent dealership we had a guy keep his $500,000 Earthroamer granted it was a consignment. If a local place had room it might be a possibility.

Call Tyler Hoovie. Lives near Wichita, Ks. Likes German cars and has lots of extra room. Might look after your cars for you. Could make them YouTube stars.

My ex-neighbor had six Porsches including a Carerra GT, two other Carerras, a Boxer ( for slumming it I suppose) , a Cayenne Turbo and one other. Plus a Range Rover, a F150 Lariat, a Saleen Corvette, and the wife had a Mercedes E series (more slumming it). He put several in an unheated storage unit the kind with people default on and they auction everything that’s in it. He was only paying about half of what you were quoted.

Very funny. Why would a museum "show" 2008 BMW 3 series and 2012 Mercedes S550? For anything to be in a museum it would have to be at least 70s car and most likely something even earlier. I know they are nice cars and well kept but they are not rare.

Keeping 2 of your cars stored for free is NOT mutual benefit, more like benefit you twice.

Why don't you sell them if you are not driving them? Recent luxury car goes down in value instead of up.

I don't see anywhere in the OP where he wants anything for free.

I think he was hinting for free with this subject, no? Anyways, even if he can store it for free why should he just let it depreciate in the mean time? It is not at the age where cars appreciate in value yet.

I was pointing to this....

Maybe he's interested in both.

Very willing to pay.

Find it fascinating one can't comprehend that a car museum, or a used car dealer with unfilled showroom space would not want two vehicles on their floor, over having empty space. If the housing market was slow, these cars in a vacant higher end home's garage might help stage the garage. Lots of scenarios out there if one is willing to work at it. Maybe not in parts of California or some urban areas, but in other areas absolutely.

I was transferred to Luke AFB (outside of Phoenix) at the peak of the housing crash. We couldn't sell our home in the Midwest, so my Wife stayed in the home while I looked for temporary housing in Phoenix for just myself. A real estate agent knew I had a deep background in physical security. She had a high end home for sale, that was in dispute with the next door neighbor. She offered the home to me for free if I could provide a protective presence. I lived in that home until it sold. The first day the neighbor tried to run me over. Never tried again. When that home sold, the realtor had another home for me to live in to provide a protective presence. I had just received a transfer to Pennsylvania, so had to decline.

If one is able to provide value of some sort, be it cash, etc.... opportunities are out there.

Good for you. If you are willing to go that far I'm sure there will be opportunities, but yeah this is not a common thing and if something happen to your car you likely cannot expect them to take super good care of it for low cost.

Went and looked at the $500 garage today. It is actually a hanger for a airplane in a private airplane community. Security to get into the airplane subdivision, etc. Hanger was modern and spotless. Owner had a stroke and is no longer able to fly.

Likely not going to take it for a weird reason. Hanger is on a huge pond. I own a home on a huge pond. My experience with huge ponds are mice are plentiful. Traps can work, but have to be checking regularly. This real nice man likely is not a match for checking traps..... and I don't want mice living in the cars....

Then you won't have any trouble finding a place to take your offer ! (y) Post pictures when it's on display.
