There is a synthetic motor oil on the Citgo web site named Citgo Supergard Synthetic. It comes in both 5W 30 and 10W 30. I have seen no mention of this one from you guys. The 10W 30 reads:

API SL
Flash Pt 485 F
Pour Pt -33 F
HTHS Rate 3.5
Ash .80
TBN 8.5
Vis.@ 40C 63
Vis.@ 100C 10.4

Sounds like it might be like motor honey in my big block Ford next time - with that high Flash Point, HTHS and TBN. Comments Please. Anyone with experience with this one?

I doubt this one slipped by Motorbike. This does look like a very good oil. Problem I have is I never see these other brands/choices out their. I have a hard enough time finding GC in S.Jersey.

Yum, Yum.

I just can't find it as a practical matter.

Is it readily available to you??

Don't know yet. There's nothing like a little "oil exploration". Might have to clear out a space along side my Mobil 1 for this one!

Those oils have more pour point depressants though because of the lower quality base oils .

Look at the cp's of the Citgo Here

Those two Valvoline oils just got outrun in the cold temp race

Well, that's too close to call. I prefer to see the ccs (cold crank simulator) test and MRV numbers. Pour point can be ambiguous.

Few people would be using a 10W-30 below 0F anyway.

TallPaul, I've just found that pour point data doesn't equate to real world cold starts.

I've seen one dino start better in cold than a "real" syn, although the pour point specs. were 20 degrees different.

All I am saying is don't take these absolute pour point numbers as the gospel.

You are absolutely right. Even beats Valvoline Synpower on the cold crank and pump tests.
