Any ideas on this noisy 2009 Corolla?

At least it doesn't seem to have the VVT actuator startup rattle.

The belt on this is tightened the old-fashioned way, at the alternator bracket. The only moving pulleys should be the alternator, water pump, and A/C.

Just got a call from the shop-

Water Pump is the culprit...getting a new one put in along with a new serpentine belt......650

Dropped it off tonight at a local indy shop. Said they will take a look and give me a ring tomorrow on what they find. This is what it sounds like after running for a bit

100% pulley noise.. I would guess the idler pulley.

Whoops, missed your post. Is this the type of motor where the timing belt runs the water pump?

Let us know how this works out becaus I don't think it's the water pump.

They said they replaced the water pump and also installed a new serpentine belt. Whatever was making the noise must have been replaced because that racket is gone and sounds 100% better and is driving pretty smooth now.

Prices are going up on everything. I don’t know how easy or hard it is to change the pump on these cars.

Yeah it was a bit of coin but also included a new belt and it was done correctly and efficiently
