My daughter crashed her mint 2005 CR-V and I am searching for her a new ride. Amconsidering the 2.5(Mazda Engine)2008-2012 Ford Escape and not the 3.0 V6. Mainly because the CD4E transmission that are attached to the V6's are pure garbage and rarely last 60K miles. Will only buy a "Southern" car because the "Rust Belt" Escapes rot out in the rear wheel wells. Anyone got any input as to pro's or con's of this generation of Escapes with the 2.5 and the 6-Speed auto?

Slooooooow but reliable cars. If you find a clean one at a good price, I say jump on it.

Don't forget about Mercury Mariner/Mazda Tribute ('09-'11)
They all rust (check the rear upper shock mounts closely)

MY2009+ till 2012 V6 models get the same 6F35 6 speed auto instead of the CD4E
It's the same unit as the 2.5 I4, it's less unreliable I suppose 🤷‍♂️

I remember people complaining about rolling idle/droning with the 2.5 I4, usually a new throttle body + PCM reflash fixes it

Don't count out the hybrids, a rugged taxi 🚕 in their time

I did not know they ditched the CD4E with the V6. I still want the 2.5 just for simplicity sake!

193k on our 04 CD4E.. take care of them and they'll last.

That is the issue with buying a used one, most people don't take care of them! I once helped a lady on the interstate in a 3.0 Taurus. 40K miles and the tranny went kah-put driving down the road. Read where the 2nd and 3rd gear bands were the issue.
