P.S. next oil would be valvoline durablend(g-4)

If you do that, your windshield will probably get a stone crack, your headlight will burn out, your taillight will burn out, and the ashtray may get full (if you are a smoker or carry one).

And the bottles may not be totally compatible when recycled (if your locale accepts empty oil bottles).

Mixing oils (at the same time) isn't recommended (Chevron, Citgo, and Shell come right out in their websites and explicitly state so), although doing so is not likely to harm an engine.

As for using a different brand and/or type of oil with each new oil change, no problem: "Fact: As long as the synthetic motor oil product and conventional motor oil product meet the viscosity and performance requirements outlined in the vehicle’s owner’s manual, you may interchange them with each other."

You can run a different oil at each oil change and your engine would never be damaged.

However, if you plan on doing extended intervals (beyond 6 or 7k for instance) then it's best to stick with the same oil. In other words, I would not recommend going beyond 6k on the very first run with a new oil.

It IS disturbing. Changing brands every oil change or every other oil change. I would like to use good routine maintenance practices and that includes sticking to one brand.

I did use the same brand for the last 2 oci's and that turned out to be the brand my first mechanic recommended for my first car when I was 16, 31 years ago! Now, it's a comfortable feeling knowing that oil is in my truck.

It looks like most of the folks here who stick with 1 brand are the M1 users. I think that M1 is the best value for extended drainers so if you're a dino man looking for 1 brand to stick to, trust your instincts and don't take these uoa's too seriously. Use the uoa to test your engine, not the oil.
