Arson? Careless flicking of cigarette? Meteorite?
I hate to say it, But there are many evil people that would start these fires.
You are unfortunately correct.
You may have heard about a large fire last November that sufficiently weakened a major bridge across the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Kentucky to have it closed for replacement of steel structure for a few months.
It was an arson fire and the guy who started it just said at his sentencing hearing that he liked setting fires.
Life in California. Between nature, the homeless and the pyromaniacs it seems like something is always burning. When its not flooding, anyways.
It has been a while since we have had a big fire. We did have a bunch of rain this winter so all the growth should be fuel about now.
Growth that they refuse to spend in removing whose cost wouldn't even be 1% in comparison to the cost of damages caused from not removing it. The native Americans understood controlled burns.
Wildfires aren't necessarily started intentionally. It could be a cigarette butt flicked out of a car window. A campfire that wasn't put out properly. Trailer safety chains dragging on the road and sparking. Careless target practice, perhaps even shooting exploding targets, without clearing the target area first. And so forth.

That's what started the big one a few years back
Thats unfortunate. Fourth of July will bring about lots more incidents I am sure. I cringe at the thought. Be safe everyone.
