Androids and iPhone movies

I thought the iPhone movies were some ubiquitous format. Perhaps not?

My father has a Samsung galaxy note. I email movies and they are incompatible - will not play on this thing. Work perfect when opened on Mac or pc computers, an ipad, etc that they have.

These movies are just .mov or .mp4 movies shot with the phone's camera. How hard is it for Samsung or google to have the right codecs?

Seems odd to me, but I have no way to diagnose. Perhaps they are doing something wrong?

It depends on what version of Android you have and the OEM.

Same thing when you try to take something out of an Android and play it with iTunes.

Much harder to get things to play with iTunes and my iPads then the other way around for me.

Will not even discuss music and getting it on and off the device. iTunes is the devil...

The links above will fix the issue. That is unless the movie came from iTunes with its version of "DRM". Then no dice that I've found.

They should be. Movies you shoot with your iPhone are nothing special. Just regular old MPEG4 data. When I had an Android (Droid X) the stuff I had from my iOS days played fine. Perhaps changing the extension from .m4v to mp4 may help? I know iTunes and iOS can get picky with the extensions.

As far as DRM that was only on the older music and any movies downloaded from the iTunes store. There should never be any DRM on stuff you created or ripped on your own.

Not sure what the issue is. When I had a Droid it pretty much played what I gave it. It was the rest of the experience that sucked and drove me back to iOS.

No drm. These are movies I've captured with the in-phone camera.

Getting movies and pictures off the phone is super easy.

QuickTime file format is the basis of the MPEG-4 file format.

How do you get it into the iPad?

I get android based pictures and video by email all the time to my ipad. Super easy to download it onto the device or play it from the email cloud.
