Well, Amsoil is now selling Wix Filters. On the Amsoil website Amsoil made a statement on how the Wix design of the front bypass valve keeps dirty oil from flushing over the filter material is superior design.....

Is Amsoil going to redesign there filters now? What do you think Pablo and Don? How about Filterguy or DaveO...what are your thoughts? Wave of the future on All top of the line filters in the near future?

Lets get the quote correct LCM

From Amsoil's Website
quote:

Superior Construction
WIX oil filters have a full metal base plate for superior strength at the double seal. They also feature a silicone anti-drainback valve that stays flexible in extreme temperatures. This improves oil flow and keeps oil in the filter to prevent dry starts.

WIX oil filters use an up-front by-pass valve. This design is superior to top-mounted valves because it helps to keep oil from washing past dirty media and entering the engine. The glass-enhanced media in WIX oil filters offers greater efficiency, capturing more 10 to 12 micron sized particles than other cellulose/synthetic blend medias. They also have a coil steel spring to ensure internal filter parts are sealed properly.

Up Front Safety By-Pass Valve*
If the filter becomes plugged with dirt, it keeps oil from washing over the contaminated media and carrying that dirt back into the engine. Competitive brands place valve in top of the filter which allows oil to wash over the media carrying dirt back into the engine.

The Filter By-Pass Valve
If a WIX full-flow filter becomes "clogged", or excessively restrictive to oil flow, the filter by-pass valve ensures continued engine lubrication by allowing the oil to by-pass the filter. Some vehicle manufacturers have the by-pass valve built into the oil filter mounting unit (located on the engine).
