Amsoil SS vs Mobil 1 EP

Been going back and fourth with some Amsoil salesman on Facebook trying to say Amsoil is the best, Mobil 1 and the rest don't stand a chance... The typical Amsoil selling points and marketing, the 4 ball wear test etc... Even shared videos from project farm and Nates interactive on YouTube as proof...

I know it's good oil but it's Amsoil SS and the rest really worth the price over like Mobil 1 EP etc
The 922nd "let's bash Amsoil and ask again if it's better than Mobil 1" thread.

there is NO comparison due to $$$$ BUT comparing Amsoils OE oils using typical group III fake synthetics would be more "fair"! before the Castrol "synthetic" debate Mobil I likely using mostly PAO compared to Amsoil SS forumla would have been comparable, but as always cost should should be at least close on anything being compareda lot costlier + SHOULD be BETTER IMO!!

Is Amsoil SS PAO based?
Just going by the SDS, looks like 10-30% PAO and 10-30% Group III. Not sure what that implies for the remainder of the blend. POE typically isn't represented on the SDS sheets.

My wife is a candidate for extended drains given her long and hot commute, but we are already at 9K mile drains @ 5 month intervals with ~20 dollar a jug wal-mart stuff so I see no benefit for EP or AP. I am also fine spending 35 dollars for the Subaru stuff.

Not a big expense. It's pocket change when amortized.

Now my Cable bill at $247 - month for triple play I gotta figure out something there. Surprised at the total lack of "wired" competition with that kind of revenue potential.

For me, its not whether its a good oil or even the best oil. I dont care. Its a diminishing return. I see no reason to pay 4-5x as much for a product that will improve wear by .2%. Considering that the wear with any modern oil will be incredibly low, that .2% is effectively zero.

ill change supertech a bunch of times for the same price and maybe even be better off.

One thing I do like about Amsoil is that they publish all the good stuff. Noack, HTHS, etc. There is no guessing.

For a decade, I raced motocross a lot, and some creepy old guy would come to the track regularly trying to sell amsoil. After zero sales in 2 years, he stopped coming by thankfully. Not one person ran it, be it 2 stroke, or 4. They need to check into their sellers as a good start. Many aren't the type I would want representing my product, if I was an oil company. Besides that, being a rip off price, doesn't mean that your oil is better, just that anyone who actually buys it, their wallet gets thinner. The shop I work in part time, we do not even offer it there as an option. My boss told me on day one, these are the house oils, and here are the options, that a customer may choose from if they wish to upgrade. When I mentioned that I was glad, amsoil wasn't an option, he went into a small rant about it being over priced snake oil, which made me smile.

Why discuss? Both are good oils. Choose and move on.

People with argue over which 20-25K oil is better, then drain it out @ 8K.
Yeah, really. There are probably a dozen other things on the car that could use extra attention if you are looking for extra long service life, that don’t get it. Starting with the finish and upholstery.

For the cost of the fluid, yes.
But labour and filters are pricey.

Remember you could be Playing Golf or Tennis during those two hours!

Or tending to the Cannabis garden out back.
2 Hours?!

I just did my F150 change. Drained the old oil directly into a jug with the Fumoto and filled it back up. Maybe 15 minutes. And I run my Fram Ultras for 2 OCI's.

Literally can do the change in less time than it takes me to drive to and from the shop.

The amsoil salesman will explain that you will actually save money, get more protection, and also better MPG. Sounds so good, doesn't it?
