Can anyone tell me what makes amsoil signature series so great? Anyone able to explain why? Is it marketing ? I’m genuinely curious if this really is so much better then say Mobil 1, Castrol, valvoline etc. any body have an oil analysis of the 0w-20 signature series?

Take a look at the Specs on their Website. There is a UOA Section here, just Google Amsoil 0W-20 UOA Bitog, and see what comes up.

For the longest time it was knows as a reliable good long interval oil when many oils at best would advertise up to 10k miles. But 15k m1 popped up then 20k with EP and now 25k with castrol ep (i still believe amsoils sig will do better than castrol ep to 25k) And it did seem to be better blended before as far as pao percentage in the base. I think they now have less than half pao but I'm sure it still performs great. I personally don't think it's all that worth using unless i needed something to last as long as possible on an oil change like on a car you won't get to service for a year or two for x reason. Their cvt fluid was the best for the longest time but it seems hpl cvt is now a bit better.

Here is some data:

I saw a guy at a car show and he had this tester with a motor and a handle that would spin and he'd pull it down into some oil unit it stopped.

Amsoil took the most pulling on the handle to stop, so that means it's the most slipperiest of all the oil and better.

He told me he was an expert.

More expensive base oil blends combined with additional detergents for extremely long drain intervals.

If you go to https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/search/3372899/?q=Amsoil+0W20+Signature+series&t=post&o=relevance

you will find at least 10 pages with threads on this topic.

A VOA is a not a predictor of an oils future perfromance, no matter the brand.

impressive + interesting for sure BUT many years ago AMS would tout PAO + ESTER but in later years they answered NO inquires!!! i was a user but IMO as others got better the need for most users could be met by quality fake synthetics off the shelf for less $$$, a better product for sure BUT there are similar depending on your needs + $$$$$

I attended a number of Amsoil meetings when I lived in Kansas because his marketing person was a friend of mine by the name of Shirley who also lived in Kansas; met Al and his entourage and listened to his presentations. Added later: In fact, I was an early user of his 15W40 Marine/Diesel oils in my V8 Suburbans.

Just for the record, the original Amsoil products were composed of majority ester base oils with an appropriate additive pack formulated by Hatco.

The last presentation Al made in Kansas stressed majority PAO base oil formulations assisted by esters as co-bases, because of the high cost of esters.

This is just a guess, but I hypothesize that the SS series has a similar formulation, but with other co-bases because of formulation verses cost, the same situation faced by all blenders today based on the availability of base oils in the market.
