Amsoil Series 2k TRO 20w50 replacement?

Is Amsoil replacing the TRO with RD50 Dominator or is there another replacement coming out? Searching the amsoil site for the tro oil brought up the rd50 oil's page.

Yes the Dominator 15w-50 replaced TRO...lots of variability in the four ball test - those results are basically comparable.

Its not unusual with the lower viscosity to have a lower 4 ball. There will be some TRO around in the warehouses for a little while.

I never really paid much attention to the four ball, but Amsoil has typically regarded it as very important. Also, the HTHS test is under a different protocol d5481. Is there any significance of this change? The HTHS score is slightly lower and I didn't know if this a variance of the test.

Honestly, Amsoil doesn't think all that much of the 4-ball test. They know it's a simple bench test. Regarding the shear stability, the entire Dominator line is extremely shear stable which is why they are giving you the Shear Stability (Kurt Orbahn (ASTM D-6278),% viscosity change 90 cycles) figure.
