I've been using AMSOIL SAE 5W30 for a while. I'm trying to understand the difference between the 0W30 AMSOIL Series 2000 AMSOIL SAE 5W30 Synth, as a newbie. I frequently Auto-X & occasionaly go to a drag track & was wondering what you recommend. I have the GM 2200 engine that recommends a 5W30.

Ron,

I've seen about the same wear rates with both these oils. The Series 2000 does seem to hold up a better over long drain intervals in terms of maintaining its original physical/chemical properties. I think they are using a different basestock blend in the Series 2000 product line, although it's hard to get info on that.

I think it would be worth trying the Series 2000 if you race occasionally ....

My engine showed some wicked wear with Amsoil ATM 10W-30. I do drag race my Grand Prix. I'll be running S2K 0W-30 all summer, so I'll be able to see how well it holds up to the racing environment.
