Why do you think Series 2000 is ashless?

The lack of ash on top of the piston.

The TC-W3 rating.

The ammonia odor of hydrazine, (organic nitrogen compounds). Common to many ash less synthetic oils.

There is a fair amount of ash less oils out there for 2 stroke dirt bikes.

The new dominator does not have a TC W3 rating nor the hydrazine smell and it just carries a FC rating so my guess is it does have low ash detergent dispersants in it.

I have a product catalog dated 9/03 which has the Interceptor oil and all the old formulations in it including Series 2000 and it says TC and FC. Not TC-W3. Does the bottle say TC-W3 on it?

I have 3 bottles of 2000 left that were bought less than a year ago. All 3 say applications where NMMA,TC-W3, API TC or JASO FC oils are specified. It further goes on to state Compatible with synthetic or petroleum TC-W3 2 cycle oils.

The label is contradictory sense API TC and JASO FC type oils should have a high temperature detergent dispersant package in the form of low to med ash.

The use of esters and synthetic base oils in TC-W3 oils over dino base TC -W3 oils. Can extend the high temperature cleaning range in the ring belt area a little. But not as well as using a low or med ash oil will do.

Both Chevron's Oronite and Lubrizol have made no ash detergents packages that were supposed to be universal for TC-W3 and API TC. Oronite has dropped theirs in the last year.

FWIW, I have seen Chevron and Havoline two cycle engine oil that states TC-W3 and TC and JASO FB on the bottle. In fact I still have some Havoline
boat oil made in 6/17/03 that has it on the bottle.

Which isnt possible. I have been told by people at/affiliated with amsoil that 2000 and dominator are the same, that there differant, that both meet tcw3 specs, that neither do, and that both are fc oils. Thats the thing with amosil. Its really hard to get any credible info from them. I get the feeling that most oif the people in the tech department and the majority of the people that sell it are clueless. That said I think the are getting better in reagrds to having accurate info on there website.
