Hey everyone,

I am planning on purchasing some Amsoil 4-stroke Marine 10W-30 oil for $2 a quart today from someone locally and wanted to know if this would be alright to use in a Honda GCV160 lawnmower? I see no reason why oil for a 4-stroke marine application would not suit a small air-cooled 4-stroke lawnmower engine, but maybe I am missing something. To me it seems like it would be a very robust oil. The Honda recommends 5W-30 or 10W-30, if I remember right. It does not require synthetic or anything special. Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated!

It would be exactly like using gas truck /SUV oil in your car. You need lawn mower oil in the lawn mower

Perfect.

I used to promote 4T Motorcyclce oil for hot rodders looking for ZDP,

But the photo of a Motorcycle on the bottle stopped them in their tracks.

Cant teach anybody anything about oil sometimes.

API SG/SH service category - duhh !

Buy it! What a steal! And use it in your mower.

Lawn mower engines will typically run for years on anything resembling oil as long as they have enough of it in the crankcase. Use that oil with confidence!
