VW 507 is for diesel engines equipped with a particulate filter. Any chance Amsoil will be making an "approved" oil anytime soon?

507 oils are low SAPS oils....which those oils that meet 507 are Group III, hydrocracked petroleum oil ...Amsoil would have to find a way around this using PAO basestocks

Some of Amsoil's products use group III.

"507 oils are low SAPS oils....which those oils that meet 507 are Group III, hydrocracked petroleum oil" You sure about this? The Mobil 1 lowSAPS oils (ESP 5w30 & 5w40 Formula M) are said to be primarily PAO with some GRP IV (AN). But then again, not sure if either of these are 507 approved

What do you guys think,,, if we're not burning a drop of oil in 10,000 mile intervals would you risk using a normal diesel engine oil or even the older spec. 505.01 oil (once out of warranty of course)? I believe Amsoil makes a 505.01 oil.

U sure about that? The low pour point & high flash point would suggest otherwise, dont you think? I saw their safety data sheet last year and it was something like severly refined mineral oil. But now they have changed it and list it as "Synthetic Base Stocks and Additives" .

Base Oil 1...92062-09-4...30-40% That's the nice slack wax based Group III. The rest of the fluids are listed as trade secrets. To find this and more, go here: http://www.msds.exxonmobil.com/psims/psims.aspx Then put in English as language, Korea as the country (because of the relatively extensive disclosure), and "Mobil Formula" as the search terms. Then you'll find the MSDS link to it and choose the one in English.
