So um, yeah, I did an oopsie. I accidentally ordered the Amsoil heavy-duty antifreeze, which is meant for trucks/heavy duty equipment, instead of the Amsoil passenger car and light truck version. Before I do anything else, will this heavy-duty antifreeze hurt my 2021 4Runner, or am I good with it?

I reviewed the product data and safety data sheets and you'll be fine. In fact, I would say this formulation is superior to the OEM Toyota coolant.

I was considering reaching out to Amsoil to return the antifreeze, even if I have to cover the shipping cost. I’ve been reading some of the reviews on their website; one person is using it in an ’87 Olds Cutlass 442 and another is running it in a 2013 RAV4 and a 2016 Camry. (Not sure why, but ok.) Guess I'll give it a try this time unless someone here gives a good reason not to.

Generally, the special sauce in HD (diesel) coolants is something (for example, nitrites) to address wet liner cavitation induced corrosion/erosion.

Cavitation protectants are neither harmful nor helpful in your passenger/gas application. That said, the Amsoil-HD is a HOAT which I would personally stay away from, acknowledging that there are plenty of G-05 loyalists in the world. The Amsoil passenger coolant claims to be an OAT. There are plenty of OAT fish in the sea.

I would run any of the modern HD coolants (non-2EHA OAT variants that meet or are recommended for CAT ELC) in any vehicle but I would want to flush out all the old stuff first, generally by a citric acid flush. My current love for Peak Final Charge Pro knows no bounds.
