I did a quick search of the forums and didn't find it anywhere, does anyone know how to decipher the date codes on the amsoil bottles? I have a couple of gallon jugs and i'd like to see if they're the newer formulation that doesn't tend to thicken in extended oci's. My car likes the thinner oils

When did you receive the oil?

Since summer of 2005, the ASL, ATM and TSO were all reformulated to a thinner viscosity. However it took them a while to update the product data sheets online. From what I understand, if you bought the oil after that time, you should have received the new formula.

They are batch codes so it's not easily deciphered. What's the full number set? What oil are we talking about? I can give you an interpolation.

As CT says, chances are if you had ASL, ATM and TSO delivered in the last year+ or so, it's the new stuff. There may be old stuff lurking in stores or some dealer's garage, but the warehouse move so much of those oils, it's not aging there.
