I would like to see AMSOIL to do comparisons to other oils besides the big name oils. How about Citgo, Mystic, Sinclair Synthetics? I don't know if they blow these oils off as being inferior or cheap? I'm not an Amsoil hater I just would like to see other comparisons to the little guys and see how they stack up.

Not sure what the point would be? I wish they would test every oil out there, but I think like ALL other oil companies, they are in it for the money.

Why for example did Schaefers only select certain companies for their 15W-40 tests? Time, money, relationships, and expected results come to mind.....

For this reason we made a conscious decision to only include companies in our testing that were significantly larger than us, where the most benefit can be gained by performance comparison.

Its all based on market share. The larger the market share, the more likely Amsoil will be tested against it.

I read a comparison of Amsoil to Royal Purple I believe it was, and they noted that because Royal Purple doesnt have the market share that say Mobil 1 does, they didnt puplish the test as part of the rest of their literature.

Actually, I would like to see Citgo, Mystic, sinclair and others compare their stuff to see how it stacks up to Amsoil?

Funny how you cant find much info on oil from most manufacturers.

Maybe the question could be asked

'Why doesn't Citgo, Mystic, and Sinclair
compare their oils against Amsoil?

I think Amsoil wants to compare their products
with known names in the field, I have heard of
Citgo (Citgo has gas stations in my part of the country)
but I have not heard of Mystic or Sinclair, and there would be no name recognition
with those companies.

Schaeffer's did not select any of the oils tested. As previously stated the sales force sent in the brands of oils that the reps wanted tested. They were bought off the shelves which is why there is a variance in the data versus the tech data sheets ( some not meeting min. specs.) published by companies. There was no bias whatsoever.

Trying not to be a picklehead but comparing only oils that the reps sent in to be tested is a type of bias...

Amsoils marketing has to be targeted at the type folks will buy that oil or who post here and purchase boutique oils. Off brand blends and more regional brands are not the market focus for AJ.

If he can't crack into the M1 controlled market they fail.

Schaeffers is a odd duck as it doesn't care , until recently. It relys on a highly trained sales team to sustain the stable but not rapidly growing industrial and ag base. That way they are competing with a known entity and advertizing is born by word of mouth ( or BITOG !) and previous experience with a very old and respected brand and family.

Amsoil relys on technology and a MLM advertizing balance to move product and thus far has been very successful.

Testing is so expensive if done properly and independently ,(unless you are Exxon Mobil)you have to be very smart on what you invest in for it.

Rob, When you purchase a oil analysis from me I am comparing your results to many different oils and engines of the same type and that may be one of the most eye opening and reasonably priced ways to get a comparison done by someone who could care less about brand.

Technically you are correct I suppose. The point being that Schaeffer's Manufacturing did not select oils based on any of the reasons Pablo suggested.
