Auto has 83K miles total. Did complete flush and fill with Amsoil ATF at 63K after auto rx treatment. I wanted to try a different ATF so had this one flushed and refilled with Redline D-4, which offers Gl-4 protection. Thought that may be important since Honda uses nonplanetary transmission, which is similar to a manual. Universal averages are based on 15 K drain according to Blackstone. Blackstone noted aluminum wear is likely from torque converter. no moisture or insolubles were found, which they attributed to excellent filtration..(did not think honda had a "real" filter. They suggested going another 8k miles before change. I probably changed prematurely but wanted to try different one.

Just wanted to comment on the Honda trans filter on Accords. Your post does not say if you have the 2.4L 4 cylinder or 3.0 V6. I can't say from personal experience if the 6 cyl has a filter or not, but the 2.4L 4 cylinder car DOES indeed have an inline filter. For some reason, it is not mentioned anywhere in Honda's maintenance schedule. I'd almost bet that if you ask you local Honda parts and service dept, they will tell you NO FILTER --- mine did.
When I gave them the part number, they still argued with me.

There is a filter. Honda part number 25430-PLR-003. Will cost you twenty bucks or so, and I change them around 50K myself. You'll see it if you look - driver's side of the car, on top of the trans case itself. Rubber hose in & out, filter held in place by a clamp and one bolt.

I've been told the 6 cylinder has a filter too, but cannot say for sure. Good luck. Steve

45.3 equals 5.8cst. Fluid sheared some.
Wear seems a little high for short 20k run.

This transmission definitely stresses ATF. Extended runs on the ATF is not an option.

Whether you have an OE filter or not, definitely consider an aftermarket kit, like the Permacool, or one of the hydraulic filters for Northern. Better ATF filter should catch some of that wear.

Are you doing complete cooler line flushes or flush machine, or drainplug maintenance?

It is the 2.4 cylinder engine, and dis a complete flush using machine from Honda that required 11 quarts of new ATF for complete flush. I changed using redline d4 this time. Thank you for the tip regarding the aftermarket filter kit, I need to check with Honda to see if they changed the filter or screen on there from this flush.

funny....my 02 TL doesn't have a filter, so i think there are no filters for V6 models

and Honda doens't recommend tranny fluid flush for V6 models, not sure in ur case

Yes, there are filters for the V6 7th generation AT. The paper that is used to record what Honda recommends for their AT is not worthy of using to wipe your butt.
