Ive got a 2002 Tacoma V6 TRD 4x4 with a amsoil airfiter and since new ive been running redline 5w30 with 5K oil change interval. Just recently i swithced over to amsoil 5w30 and soon ill switching again to amsoil 10w30 with amsoil oil filters with 6 month change intervals roughly 5-7500 miles on the oil. Should i use auto-rx with amsoil 10w30 or is it a waste of money? Thanks.

Being that I have maintained mine since new( and using LC I plan on autoRXing only on timing belt changes (90k intervals). I think either AutoRX as a maintenance dose or LC are good ideas for long term cleanliness. Just depends on what product you are itching to try I guesse. TooSlick should pop in any a moment about how a good oil like Amsoil doesn't need any additives. He is correct. I think you should run two OCI's undoped, sample OCI # 2 then run an OCI doped and see if it improves things. I botched my Tacoma M-1 run with LC right off the bat but I am doing a comparative test on another vehicle to see what difference the LC makes. It's killing me running 6-7.5k miles without adding anything to the oil in that car.

With that Redline and Amsoil history and conservative OCI's, Your engine is probably pretty clean.

I agree with Bryan... Dope your amsoil with LC to perhaps help reduce thickening, and enjoy a long-lasting truck.

If you're changing Amsoil that frequently, there is no need for Auto RX. I have lots of experience with the Amsoil 10w30 and started using it back in 1984, when it first came out.

You could double the service intervals you're planning and get excellent long term results.

Your questions have been answered, but if you do use Auto-Rx on anything, follow the instructions. It is recommended to use it with conventional oil, not synthetics.

How does that happen.

I am not saying syn doesn't cook on the rings, it cooks at a higher temperature.

I have a 92 Toy 6 cyl 4wd p/u at 85,000 I did a double A/RX treatment,I ran Amsoil ,M1 and redline oils since 800 miles I purchased the truck new. What I noticed was the engine idled very smooth after the treatment. The gas mileage stayed the same and no change in oil burning as there never was a problem with oil burning.I cut open the filters after the second rinse and found black powder as seen in some of the posted pictures. The amount of powder was slight. Any way the 2002 probably should wait untill it has more miles for an Auto rx treatment but change to petroleum oil fot the treatment and rinse. When I removed the valve covers @ 105.000 miles for a valve lash inspection the heads look like they were brand new ,no varnish, sludge or anything I was amazed.
