I assume that the oil cooler was added in Aug 00, but I don't see any benefit to your oil or engine from it. It's interesting the way your Fe is coming down. Why? And no Al in Aug 00. Your miles must be predominantly highway.

Hi Jay, No cooler added; stock except for bypass. This was the second oil fill for the truck which was still breaking in. [ December 10, 2002, 08:30 AM: Message edited by: Andy H ]

The longer it goes the better it gets. I guess my concern would be that the Cu could be coming from the crank thrust brg.

TexasTDI, The folks are using the AMSOIL dual remote filter which includes an SDF full-flow and a bypass cartridge. The letter I got from the customer said they changed the filters at 'regular change intervals'. The spin-on would be about 6 months, the bypass about every year at a minimum. I expect they changed more often as they ran about 50K miles per year. They used about 5 quarts of makeup oil per year for 3 years and three months. Andy

Is this Amsoil's 3000 series oil that can also be used in gas engines?

Ben, I think you would have to look far and wide to get an argument to your statement. [Cheers!]

My wife bought a f250 superduty to tow around her horses, nice truck but the Cummins is just the best diesel engine in the pickup market by a long shot.
