the lead is because i use leaded fuel, not pump swill. the aluminum is from the pressure plate of my clutch.

This was a good analysis , you did double the miles and still had less aluminum wear than some of those 20w50 dino's, at half the milege.

I think if you were not allowed to change the oil every 70 miles, The amsoil would be a good pick.

If aluminum at 9ppm is not a typo, and you didn't change anything mechanically which could account for the change, looks like you found the oil this motor likes.

no the 9ppm AL is NOT a typo. this sample was from 7/30/01. same oil for only 60 miles taken on 4/26/01 showed 7ppm AL and a susvisc of 68.4. now, this was with the stock clutch. since july of 02, the bike has had completely different type of engaugement system for the clutch that sheds aluminum as it wears. honestly, unless you compare only 2001 and early 2002 UOA's, the aluminum means nothing. the one thing i can really say about the Amsoil was this: it sure cost a lot. when i change the Havoiline out of my 06 here in a few weeks we will then be able to compare a new motor to a new motor and really see if there is any differences.

This may sound like a stupid question (considering the responces I have received in the past) But what 20w50 the older AMV or the new MCV. You are going from Havoiline to what?
