"American Thunder: NASCAR to Le Mans" coming soon on Prime

I wonder who remembers those Rusty Wallace shoot outs with Dale and the wipe out , multi rolling crash Wallace endured rolling and flipping all over the in field?

Like the photo. When/where? Me and the boys stumbled upon old Bandit driver Harry Gant at Atlanta Motor Speedway just sitting there next to a souvenir truck waiting on someone. Lots of folks did not even see him there. LoL. He was super nice to the boys and so down to earth kind of guy. Too bad we all did not walk around with camera phones etc... back then.
Looks like I got some catching up to do. I was not aware of the documentary you mention. Thanks, I will look it up soon. (y)
Photo of Mikey and me was at the first Clash at the Coliseum during qualifying on Saturday night. Long story short, Sue had "connections" and we got VIP passes for EVERYTHING that weekend. Sue, both our sons, and I had a luxury suite with members of the NASCAR family. Our suite mates were Kyle Larson and his family!

It was a true lifetime experience. I've been to the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Indy 500. My experience during the Clash was the finest overall race weekend of my life. We met and socialized with people 99.9% of us only get to see on television. Unreal.

For some reason a search doesn't find my thread about that weekend. Maybe you can find it. I posted a bunch of pictures and story lines. Here are a few.

Scott

Chad Knaus and me talking chassis setups and laughing that both of us had read Adrian Newey's book on suspensions. No kidding!

Tony, looking really fit and healthy.

Richard Childress - what a NICE guy. Imagine your favorite uncle.

Kyle's grandfather, Teddy. He and became fast friends and talked for hours!

The mechanical bits, the area I love the most. I had as much access to the cars as the teams did.

Two words: WOW! / Jealous! Not true. :)So glad you all had a fantastic time. I was just wondering about Tony S. not long ago. It seemed like he disappeared but then I read just how busy he really is. I used to have photographic memory but been slipping a bit as of late. But I do think I recall reading and drooling over a big Post/photos etc... you made about the awesome Indy trip you and Sue made? (y)

Yes. I can find the link for our 2024 Indy trip. Indy is truly a "spectacle".

Just watched this documentary on Prime last night. It was very good. It almost gave you a sense of pride… the big ‘ole American stock car on the same track and in the same race as some of the most technologically advanced purpose race built cars of the world. But then again, these modern day stock cars aren’t really some 4-door 70s barge with a BBC, they’re pretty sophisticated themselves.

Quite a feat of engineering that this Garage 56 car was.

Also watched the Mexico City Cup race yesterday. Very interesting event. That SVG is a pretty good driver.
