For a few dollars more, I'll run Pennzoil. Not to say this is a bad oil, but really what is a couple dollars over the course of 6-12 months going to set you back.

With current Pennzoil rebate its going to be cheaper than the Amazon mystery oil!

It will sell big time.

How many million Prime members? 100 million worldwide, in USA ?

Click your mouse at 3 AM, a day or 2 later it is on your front porch.

It meets all the specs.

Do you think Amazon does these things without researching the market?

Looks like Amazon is trying to promote it to create a "buzz". Don't know much about the amazon giveaway program.

Amazon does not need mass marketing for Amazon Basics, like Royal Dutch Shell needs to promote its Pennzoil brand in the United States. Here is your difference. Same thing with the rebates. Amazon does not need to sponsor enthusiast oil forums either. They don't need ads on TV either. All Amazon needs to do is sell its own brand of oil on its own site, and only its own site, and put the word Amazon on the jug of oil. That's it. They are soon to be if not already, America's biggest auto parts retailer. They are their own brand of oil too now. All they have to do is sell Amazon Basics oil for one dollar cheaper than a jug of Pennzoil sells for on Amazon. And by the way they make Pennzoil pay for sponsorship on Amazon, for product placement.

As of right now, 15 out of 25 reviews are from free product. Are these fake reviews? Misleading? Ranking up a product?

It's kind of like how Amazon lets Chinese companies sell directly on their website, and then a slew of free product reviews show up.

Just about every product offered by Amazon has that setup for a giveaway program. Nothing unique about the Amazon oil in that regard and how they are marketing it.
