Amazon is on it today

Well, you’re doing better than me...ordered a painting a week ago, was supposed to come Friday...now it’s coming next Friday.

A friend of mine told me that you can call Amazon, complain and they’ll reimburse what you paid for Prime for the year. I haven’t done that...don’t think I will. I really think Amazon does a great job overall.

at best, anything I ordered on amazon was 3-4 days , it usually takes a little longer

I'm NOT a Prime Member, so it takes about 3-4 days for a delivery / I can wait.
I use to despise Amazon, but lately its been my go-to Seller.
I asked the Amazon driver how many deliveries he makes in a day, he said "100 to 200"

Not to change topic of this thread, but; when your #1, there is only one direction you can go.
I compare Amazon today to the Sears Catalog from 100 years ago / every house had a thick catalog and you could order anything.

The fact that millions of people are growing to expect stuff same day or very quickly smacks of a dependency I'd rather not develop.

Guy at work got riled because some Amazon delivery wasn't what they indicated and I asked when he needed what he ordered; It was some sort of computer item he was going to use for a build on the weekend; I can understand being disappointed with the lack of delivery when promised, but there is a strange dynamic wanting it the next day, when the work requiring it is "days out"

Think of the poor planning based on "I can get it when I want"

How'd that JIT manufacturing work out this last year......

yeah, its common or even more common with Walmart. All depends your location.
Ps I hate Amazon for all kinds of reasons including political (Bezo) but use it as a last resort.

Most of us love how awesome Amazon is, but it's a threat to our way of life.
When are people going to start buying bags of mulch from Amazon instead of running to Home Depot/Lowes/Walmart
or in my case, I buy mulch from a local Boy Scouts group.

There is same day delivery around here on items and it works just fine. Since I have someone at home all day I've learned that they make multiple runs through the neighborhood every day.

I know I'm in the mail order business for over 40 years
Sad to say I have stuff in boxes for decades unopened- lets not go there.
I never need anything instantly unless I screw up on meds or something.
but Amazon delivers regardless- I did not pay for expedited services- just a Prime member.
Flame on- I hope Amazon takes over the US Mail!

All of my Amazon purchases arrived years ago … pre self serving newspaper days …

Love to hate Amazon. Biggest problem for other retailers is the free shipping and return policy.

I need a bicycle part, do I order from Amazon and have it in a couple of days usually with free shipping, do I order it from an online bike retailer taking usually a week and pay shipping, or do I go to a local bike shop knowing they won't have it, order it and it takes over a week and I make 2 trips? Item price is usually close but convenience and free shipping are hard to beat. So is the return policy. This scenario is true for lots of stuff, I know what I want, do I try to find it around town, maybe buy something similar, or order it?

Do I go to the local NAPA where it's business as usual health wise to buy my oil filters or order online for now?

Some of us are in the age category or have health issues that made staying away from people important over the past year. Same reason for order online grocery shopping.

We have been getting deliveries earlier and earlier in the day recently, as in before 10am, while our deliveries always used to be in the late afternoon or early evening (3pm to 8pm). I recently ordered an item at 12:30am and it was delivered the same "day". I'm not sure if it was a glitch though... We do have a distribution hub in a nearby suburb so depending on the commonality of the item and the time of day ordered, 1-day or 2-day delivery is what we see as a rule.

Every once in a while, I'll see "Same day delivery" filter that I can toggle. Maybe it depends how early in the day I'm browsing though...

I still won’t do Amazon, Jim. 🙂. Especially since last time I ordered something online the UPS Guy showed up in a personal vehicle and almost got his tail taken off because I didn’t know who he was.
