Wow, this is a great deal. I used to have an LG that used this filter. It crapped out on us this year after only 6 years. It still had a compressor warranty, but no good shop anywhere near me would touch LG or Samsung.

I removed any parts I thought I could sell, junked it, and bought a Bosch.

The filters my fridge takes are expensive and barely last any amount of time. I wish those would fit.

I ordered a 15K Sub-Zero refrigerator for my new home which hasn't arrived yet. It uses an air purification filter to help keep food fresh longer which needs changed about once a year.

Be aware that the standard filter will not remove certain contaminants. Depending on what is in the water will dictate what level of filtration is required.

That's not a good sign. My 1st LG was still going strong after 15 years. It stayed with the house when I sold it. Bought a brand new LG 5 years ago for the new house, no problems so far.

Samsung has notoriously poor refrigerator design and short life. I hope LG isn't following their bad example. We're running out of good options here.

Having plenty of first hand experience with poor BMW reliability, I generally try to avoid any german products with moving parts.

My fridge only has an ice maker, but the water here is trash and the fridge is opposite to my RO system. I installed one of those quick connect inline GE filters, but this is a great deal.

What on Earth does a $15k fridge do that warrants that kind of price?

I'll start with a question. Why don't people get cheap Formica countertops anymore? They hold up for years and years and are cheap.

Regarding the fridge I'm still waiting on, it's a true counter depth fridge. 24" deep by 48" wide. The so-called counter depth refrigerators at Lowes stick out several inches from the counter. Compressor and grill are on top. This is not a disposable fridge, although one could buy several for what this cost. My kitchen is very high end. The countertops and island are black soapstone.

Check to see if your new fridge has a compressor that's on the class action list. Basically just search your model fridge on the list.

What's funny is, my wife loves the design of the inside of LGs. I refused to buy another because lasting under 6 years is crap and no one near me will touch it for warranty repair.

A repair guy told us to go with whirlpool/amana/kitchenaid/maytag/jennair because they are the same whirlpool manufacturer. And mostly made in America and repairable.

However, my wife likes how the bosch is setup and the repair guy said those are good. Yeah maybe parts will be expensive and tough to come by, but hopefully people will work on it, or I can.

I strongly recommend against Samsung and LG. No good shop around here fixes them.

You will love it! Have had mine for 30 years and only repairs are ice maker, fan motor and a set of door seals for the refrigerator side. Repairman said to keep the seals clean and lubricate them occasionally. You can see everything inside because of the shallow depth.

I have a standard depth and so it sticks out, but my wife preferred more room inside. Ironically, the counter depth fridge option for my model was a few hundred dollars more expensive.
