HD used to carry it.
My Napa has a generic oil. Back of the bottle says it's made by Amalie.
If you google them, you will find a site that sells the stuff and gives free shipping if you order $40 or more. I never have used the stuff myself and have no experience with them.
Looks like they shell out enough money to sponsor a race team though.

Some small stores in Pennsylvania used to carry it. Our local distributor went out of business or was bought out by somebody about 5-6 years ago. I still remember it sitting on many store shelves. Gene Snow's dragster used to be sponsored by Amalie at one time back in the '80s if I remember right.
I remember it as well, from back in the 70s in Texas.
I seemed to be a 'southern' oil. Had a hard time finding Quaker State back then in the south.
Havaline was popular too.

I used to sell it back in the mid 80's - early 90's here in NH. We have a large in state only parts chain that sold( still? )it as their main oil, transmission fluid, and gear oil. Back when I sold it anyway it was nothing special and was actually, IMO, a below average product. The XLO diesel oils and the gear lube had some fans in the heavy equipment customer base but the transmission fluids and other oils were not so great and didn't sell well at all. Not to the shops and not to walk in customers. Never could understand why the company kept selling it because it just didn't move.
My info is a bit outdated however. Perhaps they are betetr now? I do know I would not use it unless I was sure they had improved quality.

As I mentioned above, Amalie is southern oil.
In New England especially, there are dozens of choices for oil.
When I was in the service, the guys from the south liked it over brands that I was familiar with.
I considered it mediocre oil, similar to gasoline brand oils.
