My kitchen is filled with all clad seconds - mostly copper core, typically S stamped on the bottom of the handle. Some of it I've had 15 years. I was hard pressed to find a blemish on any of it when "new".
 
I've never bought these, but the D5 polished I've had for 20 yrs are absolute work horses and still look new. I wish I could trade a couple Le Creu's in for these.

My cooks standard triple ply works for me.. but I've been tempted to add some of these quite a few times.

IMO the only thing you should stay away from is the copper core with nonstick finish..
nonstick isnt heirloom anything so to buy a 150$ copper core pan you have to throw out is terrible IMO.

As much as I use my 10" stainless pan.. If I was going to splurge it would defnitely be a copper core 10" stainless pan.
 
Picked up a couple D3 pans about 5 months ago. There was a little learning curve with them but once you get that down they are great.
