Airbus A320 family emergency software update

I remember an Airbus Captain ( recently retired ) who used to worry about flying high ( and high latitude ……avoided WB flying ) altitude due to solar radiation causing cancer.

Boy, after this stuff he would also be worrying about the flight controls and solar activity.

I worry about the quality of the crew meals.

Crazy year for nervous flyers with everything in the news and all those YouTube experts ( amazing how bad their initial analysis is ) around today.

I don't think the big issue is "solar" radiation per se. The most powerful cosmic rays come from outside the solar system but end up getting to Earth. But it's less likely to be dispersed at higher altitudes.

Tell that to tinfoil hat believers.

Just so other readers are aware:
“Single Event Upset (SEU): Radiation-induced errors in microelectronic circuits caused when charged particles (usually from the radiation belts or from cosmic rays) lose energy by ionizing the medium through which they pass, leaving behind a wake of electron-hole pairs”. NASA Thesaurus

Those charged particles produce an ionizing trail resulting in a, "Single Event Transient (SET)." I.e., A single event transient (SET) is caused by the generation of charge due to a single particle (proton or heavy ion) passing through a sensitive node in the circuit.

SEU's can be mitigated by Parity, ECC (error correcting codes), redundncy, and software (as explained earler).

Mine is now an A330 - not sure if it’s this or passenger load …
Connects on B789 for transatlantic …

I flew LAX -> ORD last night on the originally planned A321 neo. It got me home. Delayed about an hour due to snow removal and then a lot of taxiing at ORD.
