I stopped at the gas station and this airbag recal guy comes up to me because my truck needs the airbags replaced due to being on recall. Im like did this dude follow me to the has station? Or did he just conveniently run my plate and see it was under recall becaise its a dodge truck? That was weird. The recall has needed to be done for like 10 years now i just never bothered. Their owner info is also outdated by like 15 years lol

He said they would come out to my house and do the repair
Not out of the ordinary. I seem to recall that Honda was paying dealers to literally knock on the doors of owners of affected Honda models and offer to do the repair in their driveway, on the spot. If the owner still refused, you can be sure that was documented in case of any civil lawsuit(s) in the future where the owner or passengers were injured or killed in an accident that the airbags may have helped with.

He wanted to take a picture of the truck to show they made contact. I declined

Ford is big on this for the airbag recalls and the Transit guibo recalls. We had one where the guibo left the chat and the driveshaft broke the trans and wrapped up the fuel and brake lines all around it. Ford denied coverage becasue they were able to prove the fleet owner had ignored multiple letters, certified letters, and notices to the fleet manager. The company had all the services done at a tire shop and assumed that any recalls would be handled by them. That was fun.

Interesting concept for a business - mobile recall. Are engine or transmission recall replacements in their wheelhouse? If so, I'd love to watch.
Ford is pushing dealers to have mobile services for certain recalls. The ones that have to be done in shop are noted in the recall and they encourage us to send someone out to bring the vehicle in and redeliver to the customer.

Yeah, Dodge took all of their quality contol people off of that job, and put them in the airbag search team! Now the door don't fit, but airbags won't cut your throat in an accident! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I've seen a mobile business that specializes only in window regulators. I thought that was a pretty interesting idea. No one likes doing regulators but if you do it day in day out, the specialization and experience can be profitable.

I also saw a mobiel guy specializing in solar roof panel washing. What will they think of next?

I respond by saying "awesome" just hand me the parts and I will do it myself, so the car does not get messed up.
I think all those inflators should be replaced every 5 years. The only difference between the replacements and the ones that goo poof, is a bit of desiccant. And when the desiccant is saturated then what? Maybe they could use a 1/4 stick of what road builders use instead? :ROFLMAO:

It was like a takata airbag retailer or something. Car had decals and everything. He said they would come out to my house and do the repair
Bring the car to the dealer they will run a vin check and identify recalls and schedule a repair.

Never give any details to some outside company for repairs unless the dealer runs those details by you ahead of time.
