Air filter choices for my Jeep

Need to change the air filter in my 08 Wrangler Unlimited and so far it looks like my choices are the Purolator A35819, the STP SA10348, the Fram CA10348, the factory Mopar filter. the stp, fram, and mopar filters all look pretty much the same, possibly even made by the same company (Denso?). The Purolator looks slightly different in the fact that the filter media looks the same, but it is bordered by plastic the whole way around and has a plast rib going up the middle of the media? Anyone know which would be better? Is this style material any good? Its the first time I've seen it used in american built vehicles. I know i've seen it in toyotas and lexus' before (why DENSO popped into my head for the first 3). I've also toyed around with the idea of AFE's Pro7 filter since that seems to be the one out of their 3 that filters the best. I figure for what they cost vs. the factory style fitlers, it would pay for itself in almost 2 cleanings. I eventually wanna go with the AEV snorkel kit with the Prefilter on top of it, so an aftermarket intake system is out of the question.

I use Frams in my Jeeps. They are cheap and available everywhere. When I roll over, the air filter usually gets oil on it, so buying an expensive filter doesn't make sense.
STP/Fram, any of the paper units will be fine.

As far as snorkles go, if you plan on doing any moderate/hard wheeling, don't bother with it. Most people I know around here who had a snorkel get it ripped off. Your terrain in PA is similar to New England. They add restriction and are more or less for the off road "look". Just my opinion.

No, it definately pays to have one up here, atleast on the JK's. I never had problems with water in my old TJ, but My JK had a little water go through the filter when I had up to Rausch Creek. Nothing that was gonna hydro lock it, but still. I think its the way the intake horn coming out of the air box is positioned at the hood. When the belt gets in the water, it slings water right up over the air box and into that intake horn.

As for the fitlers I mentioned, they aren't your usual paper style media. Their some kind of fabric thats woven together. Its the first I've seen it used in american vehicles and wasn't sure how it performed compared to paper.

I found the Fram filters fit REALLY well.

I've never had a tighter fit on an air filter. It was actually tough to get the snaps done up, but it seals really well.

yeah, those are what I used when I had my 05TJ too. The new JK's use something totally different though, thats why I was asking for recommendations.

Get an Amsoil filter and be done with the deciding. It'll last 3 years. How many Frams will/would you buy in 3 years?

amsoil doesn't make one for mine or I might consider it.

I use Wix in my Jeep Patriot, they fit the best out of Mopar and Fram for my application.

2.5 jeep I have sees nothing but STP and Fram, tight fit, and quality.
