After Major Engine Overhaul / Oil Drain Interval

I posted this in the wrong section previously (diesel even though it's a maxima). But in addition to my recent inquiry, at each short term drain interval after the overhaul, do you guys replace the oil filter also at each subsequent interval?

How short of an OCI are we talking?

Anything 3k and above, I'm changing the oil filter. Why be cheap on a couple of bucks?
