After 50 Years, The Toyota Crown Returns to the US.

Its a pretty nice looking car. One of the very few Toyotas that is interesting.

Global market will also have standard sedan, estate “wagon”, and true suv available. I suspect some of those variants may find there way to the Lexus lineup.

I like the dash layout better than what the previous Avalon had with its huge touchscreen smack dab in the middle as a center point. I just don’t like that look, this one seems more refined and cleaner.

Exterior looks ok, not sure about the two tone, or the rear, but it’s hard to tell in that color what some of the lines actually look like. But overall it looks good to me.

I agree. The one thing that sticks out to me is the two tone paint job. I know some newer cars have a different color on the roof but for me the black hood is a distraction.

Now I would love to see this car in a silver color.

With the likes of Avalon and Camry, I could easily predict the Crown will go down the drain as this is not an SUV/Crossover. Perhaps a Crown crossover variant is in the works, I think that might work for Toyota.

That Avalon is toast next month. Gone.

Gramps will have to shop for a Lincoln or a Lexus again.

Oops! Lincoln doesn't make any cars anymore either!

It’s a slightly jacked up sedan. The appeal would be for those who want a sedan but still like the height and visibility of a crossover.

To be fair, sedans have lots less ground clearance these days then they had in the 80s and 90s. In fact, those older sedans had the same ground clearance as a crossover has now as evidenced when I spotted a Mercedes 190 parked in front of some CUV.

My first car wa a tiny Citroen AX but the sill under the doors, if you extended it, ran straight through the center of the wheels. That was pretty much the norm back then.

Most definitely. Going back many years cars were higher up and when you sat in a car it was like sitting in a chair. Then the cars started to get lower and lower to the ground which resulted in the persons sitting with their legs extended to the front. It became so extreme that most cars couldn’t travel over speed bumps or incline transitions without bottoming. Now we have been going back to higher clearance.

I found a video review on a silver Crown. The more I look at this car, especially the front end side profile, the more I sense some Mazda design work was used.

The two-tone paint looks really bizarre. On some vehicles it seems to work but looks weird here the way the back is hald red half shiny black.

I've always known Toyota Crown as a boxy luxurious car built for the Asian market. That was back in the 70s.
Ever anyone noticed most of the Toyota models starts with C: Corolla, Celica, Crown, Cressida, Camry,Corona did I missed something?
ford goes thru that too, not sure bout the others
