I have a new ram1500 hemi and is ready for oilchange It calls for 5-30 would it hurt to run 10-30. I am probably going to use regular non syn oil. what do you guys on this forum think is the best oil. My father has always used havoline.thanks for any info.

You can safely run any (x)W-30 because they are all 30W, the W stands for "Winter" and is an imperical rating of cold weather start-ups. Your owner's manual can help you the most.

"imperical"?

Come on, now you're just making it up!

When and if I get my Ram, I will be using a 10w-30 from Mobil 1/Amsoil and or a good 0w-30 like GC year round. (GC= German Castrol)

I gotta dump everything I learned. I hate when that happens.

Big dog: Use a good quality 5W-30 in the winter or summer. A 10W-30 would probably be OK for the summer.

Congrats on the new truck BigDog.

10W-30 won't hurt your truck and the Havoline would be fine.

Later you may want to consider what Buster said. These would be the ideal choices.
