Advice for relocating

A few years ago my son was seriously considering relocating to the SE, had a job offer with a major heavy equipment maintenance company. Luckily did more research and found the decrease in pay rate was greater that the lower living costs. Made no sense. Do your homework, don't count on hearsay or internet anecdotes.

While often needing 15-20% of the price to make it minimally acceptable for the wife. Plus the added aggravation of getting all the closing contracts in order.

Of course a DIY owner who doesn't mind doing all of the labor for free is a cheaper alternative for the needed repairs.
