Hi,
I was woundering if you guys could give me some input on what would be the ideal oil to run in my car. I have a nissan 2.0 turbo engine(sr20det). Engine has 45k, I've been running 5w30 M1 so far. I usually change the oil at 2000-3000 intervels. The car is also taken to track and autocross events, on average once a month.

I'd want an oil with a higher HTHS number than Mobil 1, so I'd go with something like Amsoil 5w30 or 0w30, or Redline 5w30, and Schaffer's 5w30 would even work well as it's got a 3.5 HTHS number.

I agree with Patman on the HTHS value of an oil in a turbo. Besides his suggestions, you could go with M1 0W-40 (what I'm using in my Saab turbo). Or, if you don't have any objections to heavier oil, you could go with M1 15W-50 (extra protection for your auto-x?). Either of these should last you 5k miles, easy. If you want to stay with 2k-3k intervals, you could reduce your cost but retain your protection by using one of Mobil's Delvac 1300s. Both the 10W-30 & 15W-40 have ACEA A3-grade HTHS numbers (although the 10W-30 is only just there, at 3.6).
