Hey now, O'Reilly has been using mostly Nissans for like a decade or more and their stocks/company seem to be doing just fine

Ours has a 2wd Colorado -- so dumb in, well, Colorado....and an AWD Maverick. The rest might be Nissans.

They send the Maverick to me if it's slick because a 2wd truck would struggle to get to my shop in snow.

But I assume you need a filter also so add about $9.00 (Fram Ultra or equivalent) to your Walmart cost. Now your cost at Walmart is $32.78. At AAP, the filter is free, or has been everytime I have bought oil through their 'bundle" promos which seem to be perpetual. . At AAP I also have a $5.00 Speed Perks discount, which also seems to be a perpetual benefit, from my previous purchase so my cost there is $32.79. So, ultimately, in my experience, there is no difference in price plus the added convenience being able to park right outside the front door of AAP and recycle my used oil, no fuss, no muss.

In theory, but walmart seems to be far less diligent.

Still, if your diligent yourself then even if 1/10 you have to scrap, you still save money.

I prefer to order a 3 pack from Walmart online, then the box itself is glued on both ends. Possible to spoof in theory, but would be a lot more work for someone I think, plus requires an $80 outlay, something I am guessing this level of idiot thief is unwilling to do.

If not, I am pretty sure Amsoil or HPL is probably about the same price as brand name stuff at the auto parts store - so I would simply go that route instead before giving AAP my oil money.

I can think of a myriad of reasons and none of it is due to seeing oil changes as a value proposition when it comes to material cost but something to get done.

I'm not sure what Amsoil pricing is like at the moment, but HPL is way more expensive. You see on here a lot of people running HPL Supercar, and that costs $101.85 for six quarts:

A plan by Advance Auto Parts to stem deepening losses by closing hundreds of stores will result "in a complete exit of certain markets on the West Coast" as the company shutters California locations, its chief executive said.

The national auto supply chain plans to close more than 725 locations around the country as well as four distribution centers on the West Coast, Chief Executive Shane O'Kelly said in an earnings call last week.

Although he didn't specify which stores would close, O'Kelly signaled that the downsizing would focus heavily on California and the Pacific Northwest, saying that stores supplied by the four distribution centers marked for closure will also be shut down.

Advance Auto Parts currently has 139 locations in California, according to its website. The North Carolina-based company operates about 4,700 stores along with 1,100 independently operated locations, which are primarily in the U.S. but also in Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean islands. Operations in Canada will not be affected, O'Kelly said.

I don't think they operate any retail locations in Canada as "Advance Auto Parts" (let me know if I'm wrong about that). They seem to be known in Canada as Carquest. There is (or was) a business entity known as Worldpac that they recently sold:

I've thought this about my closest store, too. It was a CQ convert. A lot of CQs were rural-ish and off the beaten bath. No interstates within 3.5 hours of me.

I figured a lot of former CQs would be on the chopping block.

Do they really run trucks to these locations or use carriers like UPS?

Those oil bundles get you into AAP and you also buy cabin filter, wiper blades, wax, etc….

I hope they stay open by me because in the past two years all I've done is get rid of my waste oil there. Their prices are so ridiculously high there's no point setting foot in the store to buy anything.

I work for Advance and here's my casual observations. Of all the companies I've worked for, in and out of retail, Advance is by far the worst run. Reminds me of Sears. Inventory management is a MESS. Way too many redundant systems that are outdated and don't talk to each other, then discrepancies happen and things get lost.

Way too many levels of middle management, probably 8 or 9. Their prices are utterly asinine, but we all know that. They don't maintain their stores- our front doors are broken and nearly falling off the hinges and we aren't staffed adequately so we can clean the way we need to. No one is trained properly.

For me, this is a low stress job that is flexible with my school schedule. I've got no plans to go any further at this place and I honestly feel sorry for anyone who does.

I saw the signs are up at the Advance in my town. They're closing.

Their building used to be a Thom McAn shoe store. I think the building is jinxed.... Nothing lasts there!

No signs at the AAP near me in So Cal. Not sure if it is closing but did read that according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, the company is planning to close all of its California locations, making up more than 150 stores.
