Hi Everyone,
I have a 2006 Dodge Caravan with the 3.8 liter engine. I got to thinking and wondering about transmission bands. I see nothing in the owner's manual about adjusting them. Do the bands need to be adjusted in this day and age?

They need it when they need it, otherwise leave them alone. Buy the Service Manual, there will be nothing in the Owner's Manual, or take it to an Auto Transmission Specialist.
Bands don't normally go out of adjustment in normal use but can if the vehicle is used for towing or plowing, adjustment will compensate for wear but it has to be done right with a inlb torque wrench with memory. If you never did one its a job best left to a pro.
An easy well to tell if everything is well and doesn't need adjustment is to check the shift times using an advanced scan tool first, longer than normal shift times may be compensated for with a proper band adjustment.
The transmission you have does not have any bands. Just keep using the proper ATF+4. Most of the transmisson is electronic so if its acting up you need access to a special diagnostic tool that can troubleshoot the transmission. Search 41TE on google if you want to learn more.
I guess that solves his dilemma. 
No need to adjust anything on that transmission its all electronically controlled by the TCM
My explorer transmission is electronically controlled however I still adjust the bands every 10 years

I'm not sure I'd call a 41TE solid, they are probably one of the worst transmissions Chrysler put out. And that says a lot!
But they don't require any band adjustments.

The problem with the 41te is that there are so many of them, and no one bothers to service them. The same thing can be said for just about any other make of car. I have multiple 41te's with over 200K on them. Stop by and I will give you a ride in one. 
If its shifting good just perform regular maintenance on it, fluid and filter changes go a long way in extending transmission life.
41TE believe it or not is a good transmission but the tcm's caused a lot of those to fail... (this is according to my brother which used to own a trans shop)

He said a number of times that the tcm sometimes needs to be re-programmed i will ask him when i see him, the other thing is using atf-4 is a must..
I remember him saying if the ecm starts to do its thing the shifts get really smooth and smooth shifts on the 41te is associated with a slight slip..He always liked the harsh shift he said much less wear on the clutches..
I am not a trans guy im the engine guy in the family but this is pretty much his belief..
