adding teen with driving permit to insurance?

She probably cannot get "her own" policy until 18 years of age where she's no longer a minor and can own her own car. Most insurance companies recommend moving the car into the child's name to separate your assets from him/her assets for liability.

Here as long as it is a drivers permit you don't need to add her to the policy although I did iform the insurance company. What we did was have them pay half the insurance, but if they lost their good grade discount or had tickets/accidents they paid the increase. I know one person told me that the insurance company added his kid to his policy as soon as he turned 16. I would agree that I would rather tell the insurance company and be up front about the whole deal. If you don't tell them and she has a accident they probably have a out in that he didn't tell them so the coverage was void. At best they would pay the tab, but you would probably get cancelled. Don't think that it is worth the risks.
