I have traced my long crank to start to either my fuel pump or pressure regulator. I tested the pressure without instruments. When the fuel pump is running everything is fine. When the car is parked, it intermittently loses pressure very quickly. I checked the injectors and they are not leaking. If I prime the pump by turning the key to on just before the starter contacts, I get a nice strong start.

So I hate to replace a costly pump if just the check valve is shot.

Does anyone know of a metal in-line chack valve that can be placed between a fuel pump and the fuel lines? Does GM, Ford etc use something like that, that could be adapted to an 89 Acura Legend.

I wonder if fuel injector cleaner might clean up a dirty check valve?
