I recently purchased an acdelco filter from Amazon for an oil change. I noticed that the gasket doesn't appear perfectly flat, but I'm wondering if I'm over thinking it. When spinning this on would it just compress? This is going to be the first OC so I don't wanna have any leaks. Any input would be helpful, thanks.

Pull the gasket off of the filter and put it back on.
And inspect and clean the gasket groove on the filter before reinstalling the gasket. Make sure there is no debris or flaw on the filter or gasket that can cause it to sit like that.

I took off the gasket, which I generally dont do because I dont want to mess with it. The gasket appears itself appears square. Maybe it just needs compression. When i push it down it generally flattens out looking more normal. Probably got banged around with amazon just shipping it in a bag.

I had purchased an AC Delco oil filter had had a partially unattached oil filter gasket that looked similar to yours when removed from the box...based on advice gained on this Forum, I used it but monitored it on the GF's car...it has been on her car now for 11 months (today actually) and 3200 plus miles (she drives short distances mostly) without leaking a drop or any issues with her car...I'd bet you'll be fine with yours too
