New air filter installed at the beginning of this interval. Does not look like it made any difference. I don't like to see increased lead but virgin sample had 3 ppm. We had some really cold weather this winter -- down to 0'F and the car sits outside overnight. But it was even colder last year when I have 5W-40 in it -- I started it in Montreal in -5'F weather. So 0W-40 definitely affected wear a little. I noticed the engine running rougher and more noise, but I have noticeably better power and fuel economy with the 0W-40.

With the 0W-40 my leak through the distributor shaft came back. It is leaking worse than ever. Not much I can do about it other than getting a new distributor again. I've added about 1 qt over the 10k miles. It was at MAX on the dipstick when I changed it.

With those trend lines I would go back to the 5W-40. Iron and lead are both up significantly with your 0W-40 run.

. Actually I would go back to the Mobil 1. The 10W-30 you had in bf was the TriSyn. Since the SS is better-I believe it would do a better ob as a 30 wt. than this 40 wt. Silicon is a problem. Check the duct from the filter to the intake. Recheck the seal. Great post with the 4 analysis.

I'd agree with JT...it looks like a 5w-40 is what you want for this motor; given the # of miles on it. This new Mobil 1, 5w-40 should work well here also if you want something off the shelf.

Nice additive chemistry on the Lubromoly, not surprising since it's a top tier Euro synthetic. It looks like they are using boron instead of moly. Actually the add pack looks very similar to what Amsoil is using in their 5w-30/10w-30, if you look at some recent VOA's....

I wouldn't be surprised if these chemistries both came from Lubrizol, as they do have an active presence in Europe.

Iron, copper and lead are heading due north, now nickle is starting to show. I couldn't leave that oil in there that long, it make me sleep with my eyes wide open. I'd surely give the M1 0W-40 a try, like, right now.

When taking into account lab error/accuracy, these UOAs all look the same to me.
After looking at some of the other Saab UOAs, there is nothing here to worry about.

I'd probably chuck the oil filter at 5k miles or maybe switch filter brands. I'd also would check to see if there is an oversized filter option. This might bring down the Fe which I don't see as a problem with for a 10k OCI.

Thank you for comments!

I will shorten the interval to 8k miles on this oil. I have it in the engine now and still have enough for 4 more changes. After that, I will most likely use Pennzoil Euro 5W-40 if my local ABC Discount Auto store keeps carrying it.
