'98 Regal GS odometer display

She's 16+ years old, but only has 164800 miles. The display that illuminates the odometer and transmission function beneath the speedometer has gone dark.

Is that a fuse or a light bulb - and is it an easy fix?

I think i read something about the resistors needing replaced on the back. That would require sodering.

Junkyard pull would run you about $30, i have a Regal cluster in my Century since the Century doesn't have a tach.

If your interested in a Century cluster let me know...Same but no tach and huge 3 gauges. (Gas, Speed, temp)

My brother had a Century that quit displaying the odometer. Some guy on ebay fixed that exact problem if you ship it to him, was pretty cheap too although we didn't have it done since the car died soon after (unrelated lol). See if there's a speedometer repair shop around you

A 150 ohm resistor fell off the circuit board and it's actually pretty obvious once you watch youtube about it. Others are soon to fail, the solder is no good. I fixed my 00 century with parts from radio shack.

Look in a phone book for a speedometer specialist. They are usually located in some industrial park.

I have had clusters rebuilt from around $100 to $200 based on how complex the display is.

One thing that is annoying about newer cars is that the VIN may be programmed to the cluster, and installing a cluster from another car will result in some error message. I don't know if that applies to you.

Nah no problems switching clusters in these two cars, the odometer is stored on the cluster though so if you pull another one you should keep track of your mileage before and after.
