97 olds bravada question

hey got my daughters car and did the back brakes cause they were sqealing but new rotors and pads but still sqealing. I found play in axle where I can move axle in and out could that be the problem ?

It's got a C-Clip rear end and some movement is normal.

We had a 97 Bravada. I loved that truck, Gold color one. As I recall, the brakes squealed once and I stopped it by lubricating the slides and hardware.

Check the slides if they are froze right up and this is a common problem in Jimmys,Blazers including the Bravadas.If the slides are froze up badly and will not come out,get a loaded caliper for each side.

Squeaking and squealing are not the same problem as a sticking caliper.
Put the shims on the back of the pads, or use brake squeal sauce from the auto parts store.
