My truck is on its 2nd engine due to a random belt tensioner disaster that ruined the timing cover, and lead to the demise of the original engine. My truck has 128K, with the 2nd engine somewhere around 132K now. Im thinking of running the Auto RX with plain Pennzoil 5w30 for 2k miles. Question is, their website suggests a 2nd "cleanse" after the initial 2,000 miles. Do you guys think this is necessary? Im not sure how the previous owner maintained this previous engine, but my oil intervals range from 3500-4k with Pennzoil HM 5w30, and a Motorcraft filter.

While I'm at it, i also own an 02 Mustang GT. I run Pennzoil Platinum, but change the oil/filter once a year since the car sees maybe 3,000 miles a year. Is this ok?

Thanks

Yes, the routine is necessary. Follow the instructions exactly and you'll like the results.

Your Mustang routine is OK, but for that few miles I'd run conventional oil unless you're running it very cold or very hot & hard.
