I know I'm probably going to be sorry for even asking here, but here goes.

There is at least one vendor using these LEDs (and there is supposedly a similar Samsung version) and saying that they can be arrayed in such a way that they closely mimic the positoning of the filament in a Halogen bulb.

(start around 15:38)

The claim is that by doing this the focus remains as designed while the light can be brighter.

I was thinking of trying these in some fog lamps, the car is a high package car and has OE HIDs so aesthetically it would look better with "whiter" bulbs and the OE bulbs (which are original and quite dim) don't seem to light the shoulders very well in fog/inclement weather.

I'm not interested in creating obnoxious glare for oncoming drivers (even though the OE HID's are pretty bad already) but If I can increase the performance without downsides that would be worthwhile to me.

Does anyone have any experience with these or with a similar LED. (SNGL appears to use these as well, though the photographs I can find do not show the LEDS arrayed inline, particularly on the lower wattage version of the 9006).

Your obnoxious glare from your HID's is because they are not aimed correctly,I been usings HID's in all my daily drivers for over 4 years and no upset oncoming vehicles ,,,,,Just like a toilet being used if it is not aimed into correctly it is going everywhere not wanted

Even with stock projector lenses it's all about proper aim adjustment of the light beam

No it isn't as they are properly aimed. They also aren't projectors and I didn't ask for opinions on the original HID's.

This guy finds the very best LED headlight bulbs for motorcycles.

Those do not appear to place the emitters as I was discussing, it is also quite expensive for a single 9006 as I would need 2.

Thank you though I will keep it in mind if I decide to do the bike (would probably go with a JW Speaker or HD Daymaker for that.

I haven't tried them, but was looking at something similar for my vehicle. I decided to wait because, while I think the arrangement has improved a lot over the past couple of years, I'm not sure the "aim" works with all headlight housings very well just yet. I base this just on the reviews of people who have used the current generation of LED bulbs and surely varies with projector vs reflector etc.

If you are looking for something for fogs, you will want something more on the yellow side than the bright white which has a lot of blue. Blue reflects back too much (which is why the sky is blue :) ).

I'm reading that fog lights are even more critical with regard to emitter placement...

I may just throw some new bulbs in them and see if thats an improvement over 10 year old halogen bulbs.

Interesting Phillips USA only sells this bulb/emitter in one version for fogs that I can find (and not 9006).
