It has been consuming oil ever since I bought it with around 85K miles on it, even when using 10W-30. I put an oil separator in my PCV line and it catches quite a bit of oil, but not enough to account for more than 1/8 of my consumption.

I would try 2 runs of maxlife 5w30 or 10w30 blend. I have seen it reduce consumption in a friends vehicle by 50%. What do you have to lose? It's <$15 for a 5qt jug at WM.

I don't want to run anything thicker than 5W-20 in my car. It runs significantly better, and smoother on 5W-20....

I would use a good high mileage additive, though. If there is such a thing as a good one...
