Has anyone tried the above grade in a modern synchronized manual transaxle, especially ones calling for 75w-90? I'm wondering if it would be too think in cold weather and whether adding a bottle of Lubegard gear fluid supplment would help the cold weather properties, as it's very thin (only 6 cst at 100C). I'm specifically looking at Bradd Penn 80w-90 GL4. Thanks!

Yea, for my 94 Corolla; I've tried all the synthetic GL-4 75w-90s and none of them have performed as well as Valvoline GL-5 75w-90. My concern is the Valvoline stuff is now specifically formulated for limited slip differentials and specifically states in the data sheet it shouldn't be used in synchronized manual transmissions.

I have a 1991 toyota pickup I bought new. I've tried a bunch of manual tranny lubes in it over the years none of them worked as good as the factory fill except amsoil synthetic SAE 75W-90 manual transmission and transaxle gear lube GL-4 MTG. Especially when the weather turned cold.
